CSA Summer Newsletter: October 2nd, 2023 (Week 19/23)

Howdy Folks,

Well autumn is upon us!  If you feel a little slow right now, ditto!!!  It’s a remarkable transition into autumn.  Unlike spring and summer that have more of an unfurling energy, Autumn and Winter are almost the opposite.  As leaves change color and die and many species gather food to prepare for winter, it’s still a busy time. Sometimes in the forest it seems you can count the seconds as the tree nuts are falling! We have a big oak up on the hill that has produced what is most likely well over several thousand acorns.  Many of these acorns are sprouting!  It is so nice to see so many strong babies, from their strong mother.  In western PA, we are still blessed with vast stretches of hill of trees.  It’s thanks to these mother trees being left by the loggers that the forest continues to thrive!

Yesterday we sent you an email with RSVP links to our OPEN FARM Saturday,  October 14 and OPEN FARM Sunday, October 15th.  Both events will run from 3:30 - 7:30.  Please choose one. The registration closes Sunday (10/08) at midnight. We hope that one of these days works for you, as we are thrilled to have you out to see the farm.  Chris and I have been trying to make this happen, but our schedule isn’t the most conducive yet to having events on the weekends, being that we both drive our box trucks into the city on the weekends for the farmers markets.  This is going to be a simple affair!  It’s free and you’ll be in the heart of the countryside!  If you want to make a day of it, we will have a list of things to see or do in the area included in the email.

Cheers,
Your Farmers

Chris, Aeros and the Who Crew!
