Watermelon is over 90% water, and is full of nutrients, but very low in calories, making it very refreshing. Watermelon contains lots of simple sugars. It also contains citrulline and lycopene, plant compounds that help with soreness after exercise.

Storage Tips:

Watermelon should be stored at room temperature out of the sunlight until ripe. Once cut open, place into an airtight container and store in the fridge. Watermelon can be cubed and frozen on a baking tray. These frozen cubes can make for a refreshing snack, or unique ice cubes added to juice and lemonade.

Uses:

Aside from being eaten straight from the rind, watermelon is also good for juicing, adding to salads, making popsicles, adding to fruit salads, and making sherbet. It also can be tasty added to lemonades and teas.
