Summer 2026 Week 11 Newsletter

Howdy Folks,

The first watermelons were harvested, so these will be in next week's shares!

The cool temperatures we have been having in the nights are the fault of no sweet peppers this week.  Sadly we are dependent on seasonal weather to bring you seasonal fruits, so lets hope for the warmer days and nights.  We don’t need scorchers, but warmth.  We have seen upper 40’s!  Peppers and Tomatoes don’t really like this.

We are hoping to have Kale and Swiss Chard back soon, but our summer plantings got beat by the high heat spell. Maybe a few weeks from now they will be back.  

Chris, Aeros and family are doing a staycation for three days this week, we were going to go away to Lake Erie, but the more we got into planning we thought it would just be so nice and stay home and play here, swim in the pond, play games with the kids, and our house would love a little attention, like anything you live & work in and out of, needs tender loving care every now and again.

Full swing watermelon harvest.  There is a lot of sweating, huffing and puffing, as well as bending in this effort to harvest watermelon.  The conveyor brings the hand plucked fruit to the dudes stationed at the wagon also sweating, huffing and puffing, but more twisting and dipping as they gently lay the melons into the ton totes.

Watermelon harvests are a big team effort.  All hands on deck.  Aeros got to drive the tractor, it gave the guys a laugh as Cedar yells out, "Mum you've got to ease the clutch!," and meanwhile the guys are keeping their heads away from the jolting conveyor, whilst hustling to pick up the melons.
