Summer 2026 Week 2 Newsletter
Howdy Folks,
We are very much a family run operation. Chris and I are in the throes of pretty much everything that happens here. We are still orchestrating when and what tasks need to happen to keep us going on a coherent trajectory. Although we wouldn’t be where we are without the help of many staff members, family and our community at large. We have had great help over the years. And we feel so grateful for our amazing staff. In the office, Sabryn has taken over the majority of CSA management daily operations. This has totally freed Aeros up to do other more bureaucratic management responsibilities. Chris has been able to back away from some tasks, but he is still our only person direct seeding cash crops in the field, and he is of course still designing the crop plan for the year as well as fertilization schedules. Andres helps him with overseeing irrigation and Oso has stepped up to be another tractor driver this season. Our boys, Cedar and Cyan are starting a little egg business. We of course are heavily subsidizing the beginning efforts of this operation, but they are doing the leg work. We will be listing some of their eggs on the Online Market and they will be bringing some with them to the Bloomfield market. They are only going to have 10 - 20 dozen each a week. The hens are Red Sexlinks. They are living in mobile coops so they are grazing on fresh bugs and grass, being moved to new grass, every day and also eating soy-free certified organic feed produced by Vernon Burkholder in eastern PA. We chose the mobile coops, because back in the day when we had chickens out of pens like these, we lost the entire flock to Redtail Hawks. Now we have more birds and are in both Redtail and Bald Eagle territory, so the enclosed tent house that we move daily is really the best option for us to keep flocks of chickens alive.
We hope you are enjoying these amazingly beautiful sunny days! This weather is such a treat after our long cold winter and temperamental spring that just kept feeling wintery for so long.
