Summer 2026 Week 6 Newsletter
Howdy Folks,
The kids are on vacation with Aeros' mum celebrating Aunt Sue's 90th birthday, so Chris and I are trying to hold down the fort without them. It's quiet and a little less hectic without them here, yet there are little tasks that of course sadly we still have to remind them to do the tasks, but daily task "chores" they help us with, that we are covering for them in their absence. So just another thing on the daily list, lets just say we are recognizing that we can't stay up past 9 anymore watching the FIFA world cup. Sleep is more important!
It's the longest time we have been without the kids. The longer they are away I'm realizing all the many things that they help us with. On a whim, as well as their daily chores "Hey, Cedar...", "Hey Cyan..." It's a very very busy time of year here on the farm, with lots and lots of planting still happening and the harvests are starting to come in and increase, but the mind of putting the farm together for the season is still in high gear and will be for some time yet. Luckily the kiddos won't be away much longer, they come back mid week this week. They are loving their first summer vacation, and they deserve it! Meanwhile we'll keep fixing all that breaks and continue on enjoying this moment with a little cleaner and more quiet house. But honey I can't wait for hustle and bustle that they create, the questions, the demands, the jokes, the pokes, the hugs! It feels so quiet without them, and it is so quiet without them.
Have a great week! Remember in this heat to stay hydrated. We have a lovely farmers drink called switchel, it's an easy drink to make at home, verses buying something fancy from the store, to help keep electrolites in check when we are sweating so much. To a quart of water, 1 tbsp honey and 1 tbspn apple cider vinegar! Chug it! It's delicious, and if you don't like it, drink it anyway! Luckily we got some rain this week! A nice drink before this heatwave! Stay hydrated and swim whenever possible!
